Mark Davis and Ed Winslow win Special Award in Harbin China 2008 Ice carving competition

Aaron Costic and Charlie won this years 2008 Ice Competition in Harbin China with three Manta Rays. I think our sculpture of Octopipe, depicting the pressure of the major oil conglomerates on the fragile earth here represented by the earth- egg under the protection of the mythical underwater city of Atlantis, is by far the most politically stimulating sculpture in the display. We brought home the "Special Award " trophy for this effort.

Mark Davis carves ice in Ottawa

A Spectator at the Winterlude Crystal Garden Ice Carving Championships in Ottawa, Canada takes a picture of my entryon the final day of the competition. Entitled "Welcome to our World" the figure represents Mother Nature and her protection of the enviornment as depicted by the earth egg( to be added later) and the emperor penguin family at her feet.
